John is a writer originally from Arizona, a recent fellow at Juilliard’s Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program, and the recipient of the Paula Vogel Playwriting Award at Vineyard Theatre. 

From 2007-2017 he created devised performances using in-process text on queer themes with PTW, his non-profit theatre group, presenting both in Phoenix and NYC shows including CREAM!, God Hates This Show: Shirley Phelps-Roper in Concert Live from Hell, and SHOTS: A Love Story.

New works as playwright include Man Cave (Page 73), Wet Brain (Playwrights Horizons + MCC), and Scene Partners (Vineyard Theatre).

Additional honors include the Jean Kennedy Smith Playwriting Award, the Rita and Burton Goldberg Playwriting Prize, a MacDowell Fellowship, a SPACE on Ryder Farm Creative Residency, and the 2017 Page 73 Playwriting Fellowship.
